Ontario announces first dedicated CSO CEO
“The expertise of these appointments will serve Ontario well by fostering strong, fair and efficient capital markets that advance innovation and competitiveness to protect investors,” said a statement from the province announcing the nominations.
The new governance structure, by which the judicial and regulatory functions of the CSO are separated, was one of the recommendations presented by the Capital Markets Modernization Task Force.
Those two actions align with best practices in corporate governance, while reinforcing the CSO’s “role as an innovative and globally competitive market regulator,” the statement said.
