An oft-repeated parable describes a wise grandfather explaining to his young grandson how two wolves are fighting for the soul of the world. A wolf is one that symbolizes evil – qualities of hatred, jealousy, greed, anger, resentment, fear and contempt. The second wolf is a symbol of goodness – kindness, generosity, hope, compassion and optimism. The grandson asks nervously, “Grandfather, which wolf will win?” The sage replies: “The one you feed.”
