Your customers are concerned about fraud detection but how can you help?
38% of respondents reported that they had received fraud attempts that used their personal information.
At the top of the list is the recipient’s real name (61%) followed by their address (27%) and even using their date of birth (12%).
The purpose of personalizing such messages is to make the recipient believe that it comes from a reliable source and that capturing the information has become less of a challenge for criminals.
“Our research shows that, in managing their lives digitally, many Canadians have resorted to risky behaviors that could make them more vulnerable to cybercriminals who attempt to access their digital data. and then use it to try to scam Canadians,” explained Rachel Julicoeur, director, fraud mitigation and strategy, Interac Corp.

In another sign of how scams develop, the Autorit des Marches Financiers (AMF) this week warned Quebecers about the actions of one or more individuals who are currently using the “fake CEO” scam.
